ABOUT US
A commitment
to service and partnership
Carolinas Financial & Retirement Planning was built around a simple belief: financial guidance should help people live more freely, make decisions with confidence, and navigate life’s changes with greater clarity.
We work with individuals and families approaching retirement or managing important transitions, helping them think carefully, plan intentionally, and move forward with purpose.
MEET MIKE
Michael Mehltretter
Mike built his practice around principles that have shaped much of his life: preparation, accountability, and a commitment to helping others.
Before entering financial planning, Mike spent more than 15 years working in litigation support, consulting, and eDiscovery environments where precision, follow-through, and sound judgment mattered every day. He studied public policy at the Rochester Institute of Technology, developing a lasting interest in how decisions and systems affect people over time.
Service has also been a defining part of his life. Mike served six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, including deployment to Iraq, earning a Purple Heart and multiple commendations for bravery. He later served as a Post Commander with the New York City VFW and remains active in veteran organizations.
Mike brings that service mindset to both his work and his family: Focused yet approachable, steady in moments of challenge, and fully present when it matters most.
